To ensure that citizens can enjoy high-quality aquatic products produced in New Taipei City with peace of mind and to prevent aquatic products that violate food sanitation and safety rules from entering the market, the New Taipei City Government inspects aquatic products raised within its jurisdiction before they are launched into the market every year. On average, it conducts 10 inspections every month and, based on the stocking time and harvest period of aquatic organisms, visits aquatic farmers to conduct inspections and promote the concept of safe drug usage. To ensure that citizens can enjoy fish dishes and have a good start to the Lunar New Year, the New Taipei City Government has increased inspections specifically on Gongliao abalones, trout, perches, and Chinese sturgeons raised within its jurisdiction before the Lunar New Year. From December 2023 to January 2024, a total of 36 inspections were conducted (on 11 inland fish ponds and 25 coastal aquaculture facilities), and analysis was performed on drug residues and heavy metal residues according to relevant food safety regulations. The inspection results indicate that all of the inspected products comply with the standards set forth in the “Sanitation Standard for Contaminants and Toxins in Food” and “Sanitation Standards for General Foods” published by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, as well as the “Veterinary Drug Use Guidelines – Aquatic Animals Drug Use Standards” published by the Ministry of Agriculture.
