Guihou Fishing Harbor was built along the Guihou Village. Guihou Village was originally a stone cave and was called “Guikong”, which means “stone cave” in Hokkein language. Nevertheless, people accidently added a pictogram (“mouth”) to the second Chinese character, “Guikong” therefore became “Guihou” and this new name is used till today.
Although Guihou Fishing Harbor is small, it has abundant fishery resources and local people mostly rely on fishing, especially the local specialty “Wanli crabs”. When fishermen return to the harbor, they usually unload and sell the seafood right next to the harbor, where gradually becoming a fish market. Coordinated in 2015 by the New Taipei City Government, all retail fishery stalls moved to “Guihou Fishers’ Market” next to the harbor. In this market, there are totally 42 stalls that sell the fresh Wanli crabs and/or cook seafood for visitors. This enables visitors to immediately eat the freshly cooked seafood after purchasing them from the stall. You can also find dried fish products and drink here in the market, having your needs for eating, drinking, and buying all satisfied!

After the seafood feast, visitors can also go up to the observation platform of Guihou Fishing Harbor to enjoy the splendid view of North Coast’s Venus Coastline, or drive to the nearby Yehliu Geopark and Wanli Shizi (Lion) Park to visit the island’s wonders of the geological world such as “The Queen's Head” and “Feast Stone”.
